Sunday - Sunday at 7:30 PM EST

March 21 - 28 (no presentation Saturday)

There are many traditions that surround the entire Lent season, Holy Week, and Easter Sunday. What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Easter? If you're a Christian, the first image might be the cross or the empty tomb. If you're not a Christian, a blitz of media images and merchandise on store shelves makes it more likely that the Easter Bunny comes to mind.

Generally observed traditions across the globe include the Easter bunny, colored eggs, gift baskets, and flowers. But why do Christians celebrate Easter at all? On Easter Sunday, Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead after his crucifixion and burial. It is typically the most well-attended Sunday church service of the year.

The resurrection refers to Jesus coming back to life or being raised from the dead three days after his death on the cross. By laying down his life, Christians believe that Jesus paid the full penalty for sin, a perfect, spotless sacrifice. Subsequently, by raising from the dead, Jesus defeated the power of sin and death and purchased, for all who believe in him, eternal life in the Lord Jesus Christ.
